The honey supplies from Brazilian Pepper in south Florida were diminished this year due to rain during the first two weeks of the month.
Goldenrod and other wildflowers supplied most of the pollen and nectar in the northern part of the state. Except for isolated areas, surplus honey
production was limited and expected to remain so for several months. The next major source of nectar will be the citrus flow in February and March.
Most colonies have returned to the State. The next out of state trip for many beekeepers will be for California almond pollination. There are some
indications the demand for hives to pollinate the almond crop may be slightly reduced this year because of a reduction in total acres. The North
American Beekeeping Conference & Tradeshow will be held in Orlando, Florida this year January 12-16, 2010.
